GOOD SHEPHERD MINISTRIES
Learn how you can be a part of Good Shepherd's Ministries by getting involved in any of programs we offer. No matter your experience, time, or availability, there are several opportunities for you to help serve God and others.
There is more to running a church than just what you see on Sundays. If you can spare 5 minutes or 5 hours a month, we have plenty of opportunities for you to help out with keeping the church running smoothly.
ADULT BIBLE STUDY
We meet on Thursday mornings at 10:00 in the Narthex. We are currently studying LifeKeys, exploring our gifts, passions and values to discover how God might use us as his hands and voice in the world.
This ministry involves preparing the worship space with the furnishings, appointments, vessels, elements, linens, and paraments used in the liturgy. As these items are prepared and cared for, it is important that the altar guild understand their meaning and use in worship.
BLANKET COLLECTION - ongoing
We collect blankets and laundry detergent during the month of October for The Lighthouse, a day shelter for the homeless in Virginia Beach.
Our Elementary Youth at Good Shepherd (EYGS) meets once a month for various activities, games, special projects and service opportunities. Children from Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate.
We reach out into our community and the world through monthly service projects and a variety of feeding ministries sponsored by the congregation.
FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY
We offer Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University twice a year to help families get out of debt, increase their savings, and establish a stronger financial footing for their lives. The FPU classes are scheduled based on interest signups.

FRESH PRODUCE GIVEAWAY

Greeters are at the front lines of hospitality at Good Shepherd. If you enjoy meeting new people and would like to be a greeter, call the church office to have your name put in rotation. Training is provided.
NEW MEMBER CLASSES
Our New Members Class is designed to answer questions you might have about the Christian faith, about the Lutheran tradition or about Good Shepherd specifically. Ushers are an integral part of our worship services. They help pass out the service pamphlets, collect the offering, and help make sure the service runs smoothly.
Our Middle School and Senior High Youth Groups meet monthly for Bible Study, fun activities, lock-ins and service projects. They also participate in the Virginia Synod's Youth Ministry retreats. Lost and Found is the retreat for 7th-8th graders, and takes place in November. Winter Celebration is the retreat for Senior High and occurs in January. Our high schoolers also go on a mission trip every summer.
Tabitha's Backpack is a feeding ministry which helps children receive healthy meals over the weekend who otherwise might not get enough to eat when they're not in school. Volunteers for this ministry are always welcome, as are donations of food or money.
